Effective date: 01/Nov/2011
This policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect information about you, as well as the choices you may make about how we use this information.
We are committed to protecting the information you share with us, and we will not use your information in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement without your permission.
We collect information about you in various ways, including when you register as a BuzzSoc member, fill out our surveys, participate in a BuzzSoc campaign, and visit our website. When you register as a BuzzSoc member, complete a survey, or participate in a campaign, we collect the following information from you, in part, to notify BuzzSoc members about new campaigns, and specific campaign directives:
We also may collect information from third party websites with whom we connect. As an example, if you connect to our site via Facebook, Facebook provides us with certain information from your Facebook account, which may include, without limitation, your Facebook User ID, the amount of activity (i.e., comments, likes) that may occur in response to posts, certain demographic information and other information to the extent that you elect to make it publicly available on Facebook.
The information we collect from third party websites will be used to continue to allow you to connect to such third party sites while on our site and to show our clients the volume of activity around their marketing campaign.
We may also obtain information about you from other sources, including affiliates, data aggregators, and public databases. All of the information we collect may be combined to create a more detailed picture of you, which allows us to better understand the products and services you might be interested in.
BuzzSoc may use and share the information we collect about you:
If you choose to tell someone about our website through tools provided on the site, we will ask you for information needed to send the invitation, such as that person’s email address. We will send the invitee an email or instant message in your name inviting him or her to visit the site, and may send follow-on reminders. BuzzSoc stores this information to send invitations and reminders, to register a third party connection if your invitation is accepted, to allow you to see invitations you have sent, and to track the success of our referral program. Your invitee may contact us through the form on our help page to request that we remove this information from our database.
In order to use our website as a BuzzSoc member, a user must first complete the registration form. During registration a user is required to give their contact information (such as name, e-mail address, and postal address), and information needed for shipping campaign materials. This information is used to notify the user about new campaigns, specific campaign directives and changes in point offerings. We request your postal address for shipping purposes. If we have trouble processing any item to be shipped to you, this contact information may be utilised for contact purposes.
Once you become a member of BuzzSoc, you will receive an account, accessible by password of your choosing. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and account. Furthermore, you are entirely responsible for any and all activities that occur under your account. You agree to immediately notify BuzzSoc of any unauthorised use of your account or any other breach of security known to you.
Third Party Cookies
We do track certain information such as type of browser and log on time for our own use. We use this information only to track where our users may be coming from and what type of software they are using. We keep this information so we can continuously improve our users’ online experience and improve the BuzzSoc website. None of this information can be traced back to any specific person.
We work to protect your information. We have appropriate technical, administrative and physical procedures in place to protect personal information from loss, misuse, or alteration. For example, we use Secure Socket Layers (SSL) software to encrypt your information when it is being transmitted to us. Access to data is limited through the use of internal firewalls and strictly enforced. While we use both passwords and user-names to protect information online, we also protect users’ information off-line. All of our users’ information is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personal information. When we share your information with third party service providers as described above, we only provide those third parties with the information necessary to perform their service and we require that they protect your information and not use it for any other purpose. You are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your passwords and/or any account information. Please be careful and responsible whenever you’re online.
We send new members a welcoming e-mail to verify their user-name. Established members will occasionally receive e-mails containing information regarding new campaigns, updates, and directives from BuzzSoc if they have opted-in. “Opted-in” means the user has approved certain e-mails to be sent to them from BuzzSoc.
You may change certain personal or profile information at any time. The fastest way to change your information is to log-in to your account and simply click on “My Profile”. If you wish to change your personal information, cancel your account, or request that we no longer use your information to provide you services, you may contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Under rare circumstances BuzzSoc may need to contact specific or all users in order to make an important announcement about the BuzzSoc site or service changes. Members are not able to unsubscribe, or “opt-in/opt-out” of these announcements because they may contain very important information regarding their accounts. Before these measures are taken, however, BuzzSoc will post information regarding changes directly on the website. BuzzSoc reserves the right to contact users to correct account errors or to supply important information BuzzSoc deems relevant.
If you opt-in to receiving communications by mobile messaging or e-mail, you may stop receiving promotional messages by message or e-mail by following the unsubscribe instructions contained in the message.
You must be at least 16 years old, be a United Kingdom resident (exc. Northern Ireland), and have a valid e-mail address to register to be a BuzzSoc member. If you are under 18, you hereby certify that you have obtained approval from your parent or guardian. Participation is open to individuals only (no corporations or other legal entities). Each individual who enrols is responsible for any information provided and for updating any such information to ensure its accuracy. Receipt of inaccurate or misleading information will adversely affect the ability of BuzzSoc to effectively run the campaigns and provide services to BuzzSoc members and its clients. In this regard, BuzzSoc reserves the right to terminate a BuzzSoc member account if misleading or intentionally incorrect personally identifiable information is provided.
If your service as a BuzzSoc member terminates with or without cause, you may contact us to ask us to delete your personally identifiable information and we will only retain a record of your personal identifiable information that is necessary to comply with applicable federal, state or local law.
